STORIES OF CHANGE – Getting Everyone Involved

Benson (L) and Maureen (R) at their home village in Shibuyunji, district.

Maureen Hang’andu, a caregiver and beneficially on the mental health says the intervention has significantly improved the relationship she now enjoys with her husband. She explained below;

Before I was enrolled on REPSSI’s intervention, my husband and I had a hostile relationship and would be in conflict most of the time because of our parenting responsibilities. We wanted the best for our children but we couldn’t agree on how we can provide food for our children, taking them to school. We also had poor communication consequently and we could fight constantly. We had no peace in the house.

 “After we joined the intervention, my relationship with my husband has improved a lot, we talk to each other, he respect and value me and this makes me happy. My husband and I have found better ways to address each other in responding to the different needs of our children and we are getting along very well. From what we have so far, I have learnt that it’s our responsibility to create a predictable and consistency; social, emotional and physical environment for our children without neglecting our own.
